Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda sacrificed his life to protect tribal culture and liberate the country from British rule. They fought relentlessly against the British to stop exploitation, conversion and save our culture. He worked tirelessly for the preservation and freedom of the rituals, life values and culture of the tribes. He made continuous efforts to eradicate social evils like intoxication etc. He was captured by the British due to traitors and was subjected to torture. He passed away at the young age of 25. Tribal Pride Day will be celebrated in Madhya Pradesh every year on his birthday. Efforts will have to be made to protect the country’s cultural heritage by following his ideals. Chief Minister Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan was addressing the function of Triabl Pride Award Ceremony held at Dagdoua Gram Panchayat in Umaria district today.
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan inaugurated the ceremony by garlanding the statue of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and performed puja of girls. State’s Forest Minister Kunwar Vijah Shah, State’s Tribal Welfare Minister Sushri Meena Singh, State Civil Supplies Minister Shri Bisahulal Singh, MP Shahdol Smt. Himandri Singh and other public representatives were present.
The Chief Minister said that great personalities like Veerangana Durgavati, Bheema Nayak, Raghunath Shah, Shankar Shah, Tatya Bhil contributed to the independence of the country. We will never forget the contribution of these great personalities. A grand memorial will be built in Jabalpur at a cost of about Rs 5 crores in the honour of Shankar Shah and Raghunath Shah, the great personalities of Mahakaushal region who fought in the freedom struggle against the British. Tribes are the mainstream of India. Efforts will be made to keep tribal traditions and culture intact. Some people are trying to break our cultural, social harmony in the country by spreading chaos. Religious conversion attempts are being made by luring, tempting people and by instilling fear. Strict action will be taken against such anti-social elements. Love-jihad will not be allowed on the soil of Madhya Pradesh.
The Chief Minister said that the forest dwellers who have been given pattas in Madhya Pradesh will also be given benefits of crop insurance scheme. They will also be given benefits of Kisan Credit Cards, Mukhya Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana. All Vangrams of the state will be made Rajasva Grams (revenue villages). The tribes in the state will not be allowed to be exploited and looted. All illegal loans which have been given as loans to tribal families and their property have been mortgaged by moneylenders in Madhya Pradesh have been waived. Recovery of such loans will not be allowed in the state. Efforts will be made to establish forest produce and mineral based industries in Shahdol division. The support price for 32 types of forest produce has been declared in Madhya Pradesh.
Tribal Welfare Minister Sushri Meena Singh said that Bhagwan Birsa Munda is a great personality of tribal society. He protected tribal culture and contributed significantly for the country’s freedom. He gave up his life for the sake of the country.
MP Shahdol Smt. Himandri Singh said that the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to celebrate the birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda as Tribal Pride Day which is commendable. He said that many great personalities of tribal society fought and sacrificed their lives for the country.
Forest rights certificates distributed to 800 beneficiaries
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan distributed forest rights certificates to 800 beneficiaries of the district under the Forest Rights Act in the programme. He also honoured 10 talented students of the division. These include Devprakash Singh Maravi, Sushri Swati Baiga, Sushri Sushila Singh, Sher Singh and Sushri Priti Singh etc. The Chief Minister also distributed credit limits to self-help groups.
Foundation stone of works worth Rs 21 crore 15 lakh laid and works of Rs 8 crore 71 lakh dedicated
In the programme, Chief Minister Shri Chouhan laid the foundation stone for 10 works costing Rs 21 crore 15 lakh. These works include, construction of Gaushala in Tala village in Manpur assembly constituency, construction of 8 gaushalas under MNREGA at a cost of Rs 38 lakh 5 thousand in villages including Nipania, Parsel, Munda, Mali, Khunta Kudri, Birhulia and Dagdoua in Karkeli development block of Bandhavgarh assembly constituency, CC Road and drain construction costing Rs. one crore 11 lakh in various wards under the nikay nidhi, and upgradation work of 100-bed district hospital to 200-bed in the district hospital by Umaria Nagar Palika Parishad costing Rs 17 crore. Land donor Natthu Kol honoured
Chief Minister Shri Chouhan publicly honoured Natthu Kol, who donated two acres of land in Dagdoua village for the construction of Birsa Munda campus. He said that for a person who himself dwells in a hut without amenities, donating two acres of valuable land for Bhagwan Birsa Munda campus is an exemplary example of his generosity. Chief Minister Shri Chouhan directed the district administration to provide concrete accommodation to Natthu Kol.
International tribal Baiga artist Jodhaiya Bai’s art appreciated
The exhibition of Jana Gana Mana Tasvir Khana was organized at the venue by Jodhaiya Bai, an 80-year-old tribal artist Baiga artist who became internationally known through Baiga paintings. The Chief Minister Shri Chouhan met Jodhaiya Bai and appreciated the wood sculpture and Baiga paintings prepared by her.
