Philosopher and Theologian Adi Shankaracharya’s association with our Madhya Pradesh is very deep and unbreachable. He achieved knowledge and enlightenment from Guru Govind Bhagavatpadacharya on the banks of River Narmada in Omkareshwar and became the great philosopher Adi Shankaracharya, one who consolidated the doctrine of Advaita Vedanta and became a propounder of cultural integrity. As a commemoration to the contributions of the philosopher, we are conducting an Adi Shankaracharya Prakotsav across Madhya Pradesh on May 1. The whole state will come together to pay a tribute to the contributions of the great theologian. As I had announced earlier, we will be raising a 108-feet-tall statue of Adi Shankaracharya in Omkareshwar. It will be constructed by collecting metals from people of the state. The event on May 1 will also mark the commencement of the collection drive. I request people to donate gold, silver or iron from their homes and contribute to the noble cause.
