Chief Minister Shivraj Sigh Chouhan will perform bhoomi poojan and lay foundation of 5 works costing Rs. 130.16 crore of Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Company, in order to make Narmada river pollution free on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti on January 24. These foundation laying programmes will be held at Budhni of Sehore district, Nemawar- Dewas district, Amarkantak-Anuppur district, Dindori- Dindori district and Mandleshwar of Khargaone district.
These works will begin from the special fund of Urban Development Department on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti on January 24, to fulfill the resolution of the Chief Minister Chouhan, taken by him during the Narmada Seva Yatra. CM Chouhan will lay foundation of sewer treatment plant to be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 44 crore 56 lakh, sewer liner and work to facilitate sewer connections at each home in Budhni of Sehore district. Similarly, Shri Chouhan will perform bhoomi poojan of works at Nemawar of Dewas district, Amarkantak of Anuppur district, Dindori of Dindori district and Mandleshwar of Khargone district costing about Rs.12.75 crore, over Rs. 18 crore, Rs. 31.50 crore and over Rs. 23.25 crore respectively. It may be mentioned that the works in Mandleshwar of Khargone district have already been started by CM Chouhan earlier. Only formal inauguration will take place on Narmada Jayanti.
Programmes will be held in all the 16 districts of Narmada basin on the occasion of Narmada Jayanti from January 23to 30. Members of the committee will contact villagers by visiting house to house of their gram panchayats to apprise them about objectives of Narmada Seva Samiti. Beside informing them on the issue related to Narmada river conservation, they will urge them to participate in the activities to be organized in this connection. Gram Choupals will be organized in the villages. Works carried out in the past for Narmada’s conservation will be reviewed and future strategy will be prepared in choupals.
Narmada Jayanti Week
Narmada Jayanti Week will be observed as a campaign. Slogan writing competition etc. on the subject Narmada’s conservation , Narmada conservation rally and wall paintings will be conducted during the week to apprise school students about the importance of Narmada river, current scenario, need for conservation and methods of conservation. With the local public participation, programmes like cleaning of local water resources, Narmada ghats besides group Narmada Arti, poojan and jan-samvad will be held. A resolution to use toilet will be administered to the people in gram choupals. People will be encouraged for sanitation at public places and voluntarily construction of sokhta (absorption) pits.
Samvad karyaram with people especially with the women on de-addiction, rallies in the villages and administration of pledge to the people to quit addiction are included in the programmes during the week. Cultural programmes will be presented by the bhajan-mandalis and the artists in the villages. Declaration of ODF after construction of toilets in gram panchayats and cleaning of immersion kunds and changing rooms, constructed on the banks of Narmada river will be carried out
